Tyndale in The Times newspaper, 11 April 2026

The Times credo2

The Times newspaper of London has a weekly "Credo" column, where different religious thinkers publish essays on a timely topic. On Saturday 11th April 2026, the Credo column was entitled "Can we take Tyndale's influence for granted?". It was written by Revd Michael Coren, who is an Anglican priest and media commentator in Canada. The article is a very good summary of the story of Tyndale and his impact upon our language and he also argues that this had an impact on Puritan thought and politics.

The article is available (behind a paywall) via the link below.

1534 NEW TESTAMENT

Tyndale House World of the Bible, 21 March 2026

Tony Watkins

On Saturday 21st March, the Tyndale Society was represented at the Tyndale House World of the Bible event in Ealing, West London. Tyndale House is an evangelical, education centre based in Cambridge, which specialises in supporting biblical research. There were talks on the trustworthiness of the New Testament and a special focus on William Tyndale, with a display of reprints and pages from early English Bibles. We also gained some new members at this event.

Sir Thomas More Talk, 19 March 2026

Sir Thomas MoreOn 19th March 2026, five members of the Tyndale Society had a meal and planning meeting in the Tudor restaurant of the White Hart pub in St Albans. This was followed by a talk at St Albans Abbey about Sir Thomas More by author Joanne Paul. Sir Thomas More had an intense theological opposition to William Tyndale, writing his "Dialogue" in 1529 that condemned Tyndale's English New Testament as heretical and full of errors. Tyndale countered this in "An Answer unto Sir Thomas More's Dialogue" in 1531, which defended his work. For a copy of Joanne's book click on the link below.
