Tyndale and Allegory

Amanda J. Piesse

Abstract

Tyndale's Obedience of A Christian Man expresses a great deal of impatience with traditional teaching and learning, and the kind of thinking and writing it produces. This paper will focus specifically on the problem of allegorical representation and, with reference to a wider Protestant poetic, will examine Tyndale's preoccupation with precision in verbal representation.
